Ingredients

brown sugar

cinnamon

cloves

teaspoon
ginger

teaspoon
nutmeg

teaspoon
salt

teaspoon
baking soda
½
cup
butter
1
cup
light molasses
1
cup
boiling water
½
teaspoon
baking soda
1
egg, beaten
1
unbaked 10" pie shell
Instructions

Combine flour, sugar, spices, salt, and baking soda. Cut in butter with pastry blender until it resembles crumbs.

Combine molasses, water, baking soda, and egg. Mix well. Add ¼ of crumbs mixture (about 1 cup) and stir until well blended.

Pour into pie shell. Sprinkle top evenly with remaining crumb mixture.
▢
Bake at 375° for 50 minutes or until set in the center. Cool completely.
