Pico de Gallo from the Gun Flint Tavern in Grand Marais
The Gun Flint Tavern in Grand Marais, Minnesota, opened on May 22, 1998. Owners Susan and Jeff Gecas chose the old Grand Marais State Bank for their restaurant because of the breathtaking views of the harbor and Lake Superior.
Seafood Sandwich Spread from Antiquity Rose in Excelsior
For almost forty years, Bernadine Blader ran the Antiquity Rose Tea Room, which began as an antique shop and evolved into a charming dining and shopping spot. Housed in the historic Bardwell house, the establishment offered homemade soups, salads, and desserts alongside a variety of antique items for sale. The couple made adjustments to the layout of the old house, including adding a commercial kitchen and an enclosed dining area. In January 2015, Bernadine and Bob closed the tea room to pursue other interests.
French Dressing from Bursch’s in Hopkins
Bursch’s opened in Hopkins in 1941. It was a beloved restaurant that catered to local residents and workers from the nearby manufacturing facilities. Bursch’s served up tasty, home-cooked meals at a fair price. Later, when the demographics of Hopkins changed, it underwent a transformation that sadly didn’t work out. The Bursch family sold the restaurant in 1986.
Pesto Sauce from Blaisdell Place in Minneapolis
Today, The Blaisdell is a wedding and event venue with cozy places to gather with your nearest and dearest on special days. The beautiful venue started out as a private home for two prominent Minneapolis families before being turned into a private club, a restaurant, and then, an event venue.
This pesto sauce was served in the dining room of the Blaisdell Place Club for Women when it opened to the public.
Cocktail Sauce from Sweeney’s Saloon & Champagne Bar in Saint Paul
When Leo Gadbois purchased a dive bar in Saint Paul, he saw an opportunity to create a lively corner of the world where people would flock for good food, strong drinks, and a good time. This sauce was served at the saloon and champagne bar in the 1980s.
